Amazon.com Product Description
 | | These sturdy blocks can be stacked high for endless combinations. | This 40-piece set takes the blah out of blocks, especially for kids who create best with lots of pieces, lots of color, and lots of space. A staple item in many preschools, this set can spark endless imaginative play as children build large, life-size structures. Kids will find plenty of ways to construct forts, bridges, walls, chairs, and more with the easy to assemble pieces. Three different size blocks offer a strong building foundation as well as a starting point for kids to conceptualize math (one large red block is the same size as two medium blue blocks or four small yellow blocks, adding blocks, counting blocks, etc.). The blocks also help develop large motor skills and teamwork. Made from heavy grade cardboard, these blocks are lightweight enough for small architects to lift and connect, but strong enough to support those same builders standing or sitting on them. Kids with a knack for construction and creative play will be enraptured by these bright red, yellow, and blue blocks for hours. The 40-piece set is made up of eight large red blocks (12" x 6" x 3"), eight medium blue blocks (6" x 6" x 3"), and 24 small yellow blocks (6" x 3" x 3").

great blocks! July 27, 2010 glad girl these blocks are great. they come flat packed (of course) and are a bit tedious to assemble. the folds are perforated, but there are many folds per box. of course, this fortifies the structure of the box...so i shouldn't complain. i was a little concerned that 40 blocks might not be enough, but there are enough to build a structure as tall as me...and 40 is plenty to stack and re-stack throughout the day to keep things orderly. my 1 year old daughter loves to "godzilla" the blocks that we stack for her. they are a living room staple in our house.
Love the blocks, but not a great price for the variety of sizes June 20, 2010 L (USA) I wish I would have known the quantities of each size block before ordering, because I probably would have chose another set. I was thinking that there were going to be more of the larger red blocks in this set than were actually included, and with the sizes that we received it's hard for my kids to build anything very large. There are 8 red blocks, 8 blue blocks and 24 of the pretty much useless little yellow blocks. I love how durable they are, but this set just isn't a very good mix of the sizes.
Too slippery to stack properly May 26, 2010 Katherine Gietzen (Michigan USA) I really like the idea of the big cardboard blocks. I remember them from my youth having a matte finish, and was disappointed that this set has a very slippery shiny surface. This means that they slide a great deal and are hard for younger kids to stack.
hours of fun March 14, 2010 anita ruff (connecticut) i recently sent the melissa and doug blocks to my 22 month old grandson..... he loves them....they help with coordination but even more.... they give him, along with his mom and dad hours of fun, building and knocking down...this was a great investment.
My 3 year old LOVES THESE! March 11, 2010 Nikki Feroni (Syracuse, NY) My 3 year old daughter now plays with these DAILY! We build tall castles and knock them down over and over - they hold up, they are all of uniform size so they work together (ie when we run out of blue we can use yellow to continue the design because the sides are the same length) - everything about these is simple. She has expensive interlocking oversized lego-type blocks and doesn't care about them - these are simple and colorful, we are big fans :-)
